Chianti Road

between history and landscape

The wine road

The Chianti Classico Road has always existed. Over the centuries, it has yielded to the Etruscans, Romans, and the opposing armies of Florence and Siena who, in the Middle Ages, clashed for its conquest.

Today, its kilometres give back to those who travel it the grand history of which they are witnesses and, at the same time, welcome those who have drawn inspiration from this greatness to work every day with the passion and seriousness that have made the land of the Black Rooster one of the most appreciated wine and food areas in the world.

Castellina in Chianti

Castellina and the Chianti territory, as a whole, enjoy natural and environmental resources and beauties that make this area of central Tuscany famous worldwide. Chianti is now synonymous with excellence in production, such as olive oil and wine, as well as breathtaking landscapes that, thanks to the wise work of man, have maintained their charm and integrity over the centuries. Castellina is located right on the border between the Sienese and Florentine sides of the Chianti area, in a strategic position along the current S.R. 222 that connects Siena and Florence.

The location of Castellina, whose settlement is built on a ridge overlooking the Valdelsa and the surrounding territory, has been the reason for centuries-old battles between the Republics of Siena and Florence, made even more epic by anecdotes and legends such as that of the Black Rooster.
